Acer ranked first in the Philippine personal computer market in the first quarter of 2025, taking 35.7% of total market share, according to research firm GfK. The brand also led in consumer notebooks with 34.2% share and took a dominant 40.6% in the gaming laptop segment.
Why it matters: Acer’s continued market dominance shows how a strong brand and targeted campaigns can connect with younger buyers and gamers, especially with the help of local partnerships.
The company kept up its performance in April, posting a 36% share in notebooks. Acer attributed its success to its marketing efforts, which include collaborations with public figures and brand ambassadors.
Among the most visible of these is its long-time partnership with SB19. The group first worked with Acer back in 2021 before officially becoming ambassadors for Acer Day and other promotions. Acer says the group has helped reach more Filipinos online through content and campaigns aimed at Gen Z and millennial buyers.
“Our partnership with SB19 works because we share the same values and energy. Also, the group’s strong social media presence and its ability to create engaging content have allowed us to reach and connect with our customers,” said Sue Ong-Lim, Managing Director of Acer Philippines.
Acer recently supported the Taiwan leg of SB19’s “Simula at Wakas” world tour, where the group also toured the Acer global headquarters in Taipei. During the visit, members were named “one-day employees” and experienced the brand’s new products and innovations.
SB19 tried out the latest Predator Helios 18 gaming laptops, explored new smart wearables like the FreeSense Ring developed by Acer Fashion, and joined a design workshop that focused on laptops and home appliances. Acer Chairman and CEO Jason Chen, along with Pan-Asia Pacific President Andrew Hou, personally met the group and handed over their own Predator Helios 18 units.
As the two mark five years of collaboration, Acer and SB19 say they plan to continue working together on more projects in the future.
